For 20 years, Hope Services' Half Moon Bay Day Program (HPDN) has been a vital resource for adults with developmental disabilities in San Mateo County, providing a community-centered, enriching program. HPDN currently supports 21 individuals, including 14 who live on the Coastside from La Honda up through Pacifica. You may have noticed our white Ford Escapes and Explorers, proudly displaying the Hope logos, as they move throughout the community—bringing joy, support, and opportunity to the people we serve.

Hope Services supports over 4,100 individuals with developmental disabilities and their families across the Bay Area each year. From early childhood to senior services, our comprehensive programs span a wide range of services, including job training, adult day programs, community living support, mental health services, children’s services, and more.

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities.  Our vision is to promote a common understanding that the world is a better place when people with disabilities are fully integrated into our community and culture.

Person-Centered Planning

Central to the success of the HPDN program is our Person-Centered Planning approach. This ensures that each participant’s program is tailored to their unique strengths, interests, and support needs. We work with each participant on a personal level, engaging with them twice a year to update their plans and ensure they are thriving. Our 1:4 staffing ratio allows for individualized attention and a focus on what matters most to each person. Activities are chosen based on the individual's interests and can include:

  • Educational opportunities
  • Recreational activities
  • Volunteer experiences

Community-Based Activities

At Hope Services, we believe that individuals with developmental disabilities deserve to be active, contributing members of society. HPDN participants spend their entire day out in the community, where they engage in activities that promote social ties and personal growth. From art classes to YMCA programs, community college courses to recreation opportunities, our participants are living life to the fullest.

Additionally, we offer volunteer opportunities that align with participants' passions, including partnerships with the SPCA, Elkus Ranch, Big Wave, and the Pacifica Rotary Club. Our participants don’t just participate—they give back and feel proud of their contributions.

Why Your Support Matters

Our participants are eager to continue contributing to the vibrant Half Moon Bay community, and with your support, we can make it happen. Together, we can help them thrive—one person, one opportunity, one connection at a time.
